Go.. .you are more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the airport than in a terrorist plot once on the plane. October is a LONG time away... things will probably settle down by then.
My aunt lives in Scotland. She works for the Royal Bank of Scotland and flies to Manchester and London almost every other week (no kids). Her flight next week to London is on hold for now but the bank was going to talk about it more tomorrow. My uncle is currently stuck on a little island off the coast of Scotland (Stornoway) doing IT work. He was supposed to be back tonight but was unsettled about putting his computer and really nice camera in the hold.
I've talked to her several times today via email and she didn't seem that freaked out about it. She is more concerned about being on a plane with children who don't have a change of diapers, anything to drink, snacks or toys.
Just my 2 cents.

Is this just for, like, right now? or for the foreseeable future? The
UK economy will collapse if people can't fly in and out of Heathrow. I
can see why people might not want to travel any more. I haven't been
out of the country since 9/11/01. I think people have nothing better
to do than to figure out how to destroy us without fighting a normal
war. I'm sure Sept. 11 enabled us to thwart this, but we should have
known how to stop stuff like this all along. I wish we had UK chatters
to hear how it's playing out over there.
