Let me put it this way: a friend who also lived in Boulder for awhile
refers to the place as a sucking black hole of negative relationship
energy.
IOW, there's something about the place that causes certain people to
have complete emotional meltdowns. She was one. I was another. (We
didn't know each other till a couple of years later, when we both got
back to DC.) I know of lots of others.
