I will take a stab at it.. The ring shows that this person is TAKEN... off the market. The ring shows committment to one another. Matching rings show that you are TOGETHER (you can match couples by their rings at a party). It is also a sign of commitment.
Note everyone gets "engagement tattoos" ... would you care to explain said tattoos? I have memorial tattoos for my mom and Cassie and Todd has one for Cassie too but we weren't into ink when we got engaged.

Which maybe sorta explains getting engaged in the burrito barn...but they're perfect, they express *us,* and that's what matters...that we BOTH chose, and approved.
