Because I want certain family and friends to be a part but with many of the weddings of my friends and family get out of hand with 300 people and long lost cousins and church members who you don't want there but take a place anyway, etc.

I think it works provided that very few guests would be coming from out of town.  Once I realized it was an evening wedding, it made a lot more sense.

Still, sucks for you.

Also Naj, why not elope?

Hmm.  Go figure.  I've been to Friday weddings before, but never even heard of a full-on, all-out Thursday evening affair.  Maybe this is more common that I previously thought.

I actually want to get married on a Thursday which is why I was LOL'ing when I read this.  Now mind you I have no boyfriend or fiance right now but I thought of how I really don't want a big wedding and I am one of those people who hate leaving anyone out so a Thursday wedding would be better for me since people have to work so I can avoid inviting the co-workers and church members (who assume they are invited whether they get an invite or not).  I have also warned my family and close friends that they will need to take off to attend since it will be a Thursday afternoon not because of cost but to keep it small and have more time for my honeymoon.
