Cohousing started in Scandinavia-- I think 20-30% of folks from
Denmark live in cohousing neighborhoods. It's an intentional
community with no income-sharing.

Basically, it's a small neighborhood of folks who actually want to
be neighborly. The houses are clustered and all pedestrian-oriented-
- our houses face a walkway rather than the street. So folks can
hang out on front porches, visit neighbors, kids can ride tricycles
without fear of getting hit by a car. We also share some resources--
since our houses are clustered we were able to preserve 18 acres of
woods and 7+ acres of prairie. We have a community house with a
large kitchen & dining room, kids playroom, guest rooms, etc.

Basically, I get to live next door to some of my best friends. It's
very Norman Rockwell.
