talk about protection overkill. Today I came out of a subway station in Boston that must have had 15 transit police hanging around it, as opposed to zero at all the other stations that day. They appeared to be checking the bags of people coming in. There is a police shortage and a serious violence problem in Boston--15 transit police hanging around 1 station CAN'T be a good use of our tax dollars. I don't know if there was some kind of security threat there or what, but no one at that particular station was getting away with anything. The other stations, people were probably getting away with murder. In Boston that's no exaggeration.
