Hi
I have posted the following on the Wengophone user forum, but so far
nobody has answered my plea for help.
I'm new to Wengophone, but not to SIP or VoIP (I run my own Asterisk),
so I thought it would be a piece of cake to get Wengophone up and
running, It was easy to get running but not easy to configure. I hope
someone on the list will help me out.
Here is what I posted:
=========
Hi
I would love to switch from Ekiga to Wengophone because I find the
user interface more appealing. I have, however, severe problems in
making Wengophone working.
My situation is this:
Wengophone will not identify itself in the Help menu, but it is
wengophone-ng-2.1.0 from AUR on ArchLinux.
I have two soundcards, (from 'cat /proc/asound/cards')
0 [AudioPCI ]: ENS1371 - Ensoniq AudioPCI
Ensoniq AudioPCI ENS1371 at 0xa000, irq 18
1 [ICH5 ]: ICH4 - Intel ICH5
Intel ICH5 with ALC655 at irq 19
I use card 0 for music and card 1 for VoIP.
Wengophone will only list one card in the 'Audio Settings' pane -
albeit under two names: default and plughw. I have changed the default
card from 0 to 1 in my ~/-asoundrc file but to no awail. Why does this
not give the desired result? And why does it not list all installed
cards?
I have tried to edit the config.xml file manually. The pertinent
section now reads:
<audio.input.deviceid><stringlist>
<elt>ALSA: plughw:1,0</elt>
<elt>plughw:1,0</elt>
<elt>DeviceTypeWaveIn</elt>
</stringlist>
</audio.input.deviceid>
<audio.output.deviceid><stringlist>
<elt>ALSA: plughw:1,0</elt>
<elt>plughw:1,0</elt>
<elt>DeviceTypeWaveOut</elt>
</stringlist>
</audio.output.deviceid>
<audio.ringer.deviceid><stringlist>
<elt>ALSA: plughw:1,0</elt>
<elt>plughw:1,0</elt>
<elt>DeviceTypeWaveOut</elt>
</stringlist>
</audio.ringer.deviceid>
The 'funny' thing is that Wengophone now uses the correct output
device and I can hear my time service and the announcement from my
echo service (I run my own Asterisk - I do not use Wengo, although I
have a Wengo account). The 'Input device' drop-down menu is grayed
out!
Any help on getting Wengophone wotking will be greatly appreciated:
Kind regards
Bent
