Follow-up Comment #6, bug #9121 (project wesnoth):
Yes, "hidden" is what I'm after. As per the title, "disable showing". And
yes, in this bug as well as bug #9309, the difference between disabled
(grayed out) and active is not very pronounced (i.e. I haven't actually
noticed it).
My reasons for preferring the _hidden_ buttons is this:
- I've seen it work well on the 1.2.4 server.
- I generally don't join games that have observers disallowed, for a number
of reasons: I like to be able to be reached by other players, games with
observers allowed are generally better quality. So, I use the visibility of
the observers button as a _visual cue_ (the only one available) to check if
the game I've selected has observers allowed or not, before joining. _For
this, the easier it is to see the difference, at a glance, the better._
(- If pointing at a red game, I like the fact that the "Join" button isn't
there. It's _immediately obvious_ you can't join red games. This is a minor
advantage for me, but perhaps more relevant to new players.)
I don't know if these reasons are sufficient enough for you to consider
changing this.
