Details:

OS: Linux castle.localdomain 2.6.17-5mdv #1 SMP Wed Sep 13 14:32:31 EDT 2006
i686 AMD Athlon(tm) processor GNU/Linux

The games was compiled from sources (wesnoth-1.3.6a.tar.bz2).
The crash happens when I go to the "Load" menu and try to open a saved game.

This is the output from the terminal where I launched the game from:

Loading tips of day
title screen returned result
locale could not be determined; defaulting to system locale
locale could not be determined; defaulting to system locale

This are the locale setting in my environment
