Follow-up Comment #1, bug #9872 (project wesnoth):
This seems like it really should be listed as two bugs.
The first part I haven't seen and I assume that is the "immediate" bug that
is blocking. I try to reproduce it, and look to see if it looks like the
traits stuff is causing it or if I can just figure out what is wrong.
The second part is probably not a blocker. The intention is that going
forward units would either have the correct number of traits or they would be
marked as not supposed to get them. However, I do agree that it would be best
when restoring save games that units not get extra traits added at that
time.
I'll look at these today.
