Details:

Changing the players' sides generally works (and seems to be well handled by
the clients), but causes a few problems:

1. statistics are stored by side number, not save_id, and so they are either
lost or swapped

2. sometimes, multiple clients think it's their turn simultaneously. This was
reported in this situation:

scenario 1       --->     scenario 2
side 1 (AI)               side 1 (client)
side 2 (client)           side 2 (host)
side 3 (host)             side 3 (AI)

In scenario 2, the host erroneously thought that it was his turn to begin
with. Needless to say, this caused unrecoverable OOS!
