The problem with my work on it is that I have little interest on fixing it
actually, now that the guilty WML has been fixed for a long while since the
original report. And specially little interest since I cannot figure a good
approach for preventing the infinite recursion without hampering the real
purpose of [kill] fire_event=yes [/kill], which is useful for other events
already (and mainline campaigns do use it - thus a bad approach would break
them all).
