hmm
I won't apply this patch for various reason
* starting a new process when a thread would be enough is a dangerous thing
to do
* fixing a bug in the network layer that way is ugly
* the network layer is supposed to be rewritten during the 1.7 timeframe
* hardwired path in the patch
if a stat-upload binary is needed at some point, we will probably do it in
python like we do for all other tools, but at that point I'm not convinced
it's needed
