Works "fine" here as well. There ARE problems, which I know about, but in my
case what's described is not true. Maybe you don't have Arial Unicode MS
installed? The game depends on that.

The problems I know of are mostly because the way the game works now, with
pango/cairo for text, it uses the system font services, which means a font
has to be installed to be used. I didn't want to install a font, so I just
used Arial Unicode MS, which supports most of the languages Wesnoth does
(possibly all). And on top of that, specifying multiple fonts doesn't seem to
work for some reason - it just uses the first one, regardless of whether it
supports a certain character, or even is found at all.

Another problem is the parenthesis in Arabic and Hebrew are backwards;
")Arabic(".

Did you compile yourself?
