Follow-up Comment #7, bug #14487 (project wesnoth):
mordante: as far as i know it happens regardless of user locale; changing
translation to default (EN) doesn't change anything. changing GTK+ locale by
environment variable doesn't work, either.
the glyphs are rendered as square boxes; i've tried using different versions
of GTK+ libs, but only attainable result was making the text *not* appear at
all (not even the boxes...) with old GTK+/Pango DLLs. it looks as a problem
with Unicode text output, but i'm unable to pinpoint the exact library
responsible for this (fribidi? GTK? Pango? Cairo? SDL? font.cpp? w98
kernel?...)
