This is somewhat related, but not identical to https://gna.org/bugs/?15925
I've added a lot of new terrains to wesnoth, and i'm naming them causes me
somewhat of a dilemma.
I'd like to provide a verbose name for terrains to be displayed in the
editor, while displaying a simpler name during gameplay. While it's useful
when choosing terrains to make a distinction between Standard Hewn Cave Wall
and Earthy Cave Wall, the clumsy long names that are useful when selecting or
talking about a terrain add only clutter to gameplay.
There are two ways to name a terrain:
Here's an example:
...
name=_ "Snow Forest"
description=_ "Snowy Deciduous Forest"
...
Most terrains currently only have a "name" not a "description", and there's a
good reason. As things currently function, the "description" replaces the
"name" in all instances. So there's no point in defining both.
What i want to see is this:
* In the editor, and especially in the tooltip over the terrains pallet,
"description" is used. If there is no description it reverts to "name".
* In the game "name is used. If name is not defined it reverts to the name
of the terrain it is the "alias of". "Description" never shows up in the
game.
