The African CARIBANA - The First of its kind in Uganda
Uganda by nature has quite a number of ethnic groupings with varying cultures, beliefs, values and orientations, these groupings have mainly been differentiated as the Bantu, Nilotics, Nile Hermites and Sudanic groups among others. It has been common for many decisions, activities and associations to be assessed and reached based on these groupings many times causing unrest, insecurity and conflict among the people of Uganda. The role of cultural institutions has not been strongly enhanced by various activities that can expose them but also create understanding among different cultures around Uganda with a view to create increased understanding, less conflict and various associations including business. Asili Richlands, in association with Adiyo Designs, Vino World, ICON group, InstaRoam, PC Tech Magazine and Serval Ltd, is taking this stride in promotion of cultures starting in West Nile. Uganda needs cultural understanding in fostering unity, peace, conflict resolution and business. The Concept The African CARIBANA will explore and show case the various values, beliefs, cultures and philosophies of the people in the region with a view to understand them. The people will therefore exhibit their regalia, memorabilia and artefacts as well as showcase practices and make cultural performances. The Programme of the two day event The Cultural Child Day will include; § Learning traditional child games § Listening to folklore from various regions § Face painting, puppet shows, story telling § Bouncing castles, mascots among others § Food and dance shows The Cultural Extravaganza will include; § Exhibition of arts, crafts & businesses § Cultural performance by performers from all the regions of West Nile § Fashion Shows by Uganda designers § Comedy § Dinner § Live performance Feel free to see the presentation attached for more information, my brothers and sisters this is it.
