Dear Cliff, I salute you for telling me not to unsubscribe from this important forum of ours. I for one am a positive thinker and doer at the same time. I only get disgusted when my brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, cousins etc only talk about as you have rightly put it (politicking propaganda with NO substantive benefits) from the below communication instead of positive and progressive ideas.
Those of us who have travelled to many countries can certify that this country (Uganda) has all the potentials one can achieve if and when we work as a team with positive thinking, then this obstacle called poverty can be fought. Those of us who have not had the opportunity to travel and see how other people leave in their countries can learn from the others by sharing experiences and best practices. I will tell you a short story where recently a distant cousin sister with whom we have married in the same clan called me and insisted on visiting me. I finally agreed and told her we meet in Ntinda and we met and went to my home. Only to be told that she wants me to head the Lugbara ladies who are married in Acholi land so we can work together as the Lugbara women married in Acholi land group, to make sure that our children get to know one another, teach them our values etc. I am not perfect at all and nobody is, but I am ready to learn just like any other person. She insisted that she is going to mobilize my fellow sisters and I have to go to Gulu so that we can put our heads together and see the way forward as nothing is too late. As majority of our issues require mutual solutions at both personal and community levels with minimal political intervention, I therefore make a kind appeal that we look at it in a positive way and get together and see how far we can do our own things meanwhile and I say this again that you have analyzed these issues in your below communication and I feel up-lifted. I was emotional on some of abusive statements, the more reason I opted out, but lets work together for the benefit of our younger generation. Thank you and kind regards.
