I strongly suspect this issue does not appear in the current Wget release (version 1.11). Please obtain a copy of that (or better yet, the prerelease version at http://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/wget/, which fixes some other issues), and see if you can reproduce it. - -- Micah J.
