Compiling the MIB for WhatsUp Gold allows you to browse the MIB tree using
SNMPView or NetTools. You can perform monitoring using the SNMP Threshold
Plug-in without having compiled the appropriate MIB - as long as you know
the SNMP OID that you are interested in.
The MIB has to be installed on the target server so that the server knows
how to answer the queries that come from WUG. For instance, I got basic
SNMP working fine on a NetWare v3.12 server but could not query any of the 3
NetWare MIBs I was interested in until after I loaded the respective NLMs on
that server.
