Title: Monitoring "the Internet"
Geoff,
Several of my customers are using PingTime (www.netic.com.au/PingTime.html) to
mionitor their connection into the internet. Typically they choose some service that
is of particular interest to their organisation and then not only do they see that the
service is running but also record the response times. This can be quite useful for the
"It was running fine yesterday" call. An example can be seen of exactly this in use
a live example.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Monitoring "the Internet"

Just wondering what folks are doing to monitor connections to the Internet? I can ping my provider's (Sprint) routers all the way to the edge of their network, but this doesn't give me any assurance they are able to route my traffic to the Internet. Is there anything "out there" on the net that's up all the time and reliable enough to use as a ping reflector to see if the Internet is accessable from my network?

Geoff
