I'm still not able to modify the code that it works for every website.
I tried to check a website which can be stopped without problems, to be
sure that it really works: http://controlcenter (an intranet-website)
I guess that the Send command on connect is the following, because WUG gets
the device info (host controlcenter) from the map device (as you told me in
your mail):
GET HTTP/1.0\r\nAccept: */*\r\nUser-Agent: Ipswitch_Whatsup/4.0\r\n\r\n
But no difference if the website (in IIS) is stopped or not, the device is
always marked as "device down"...
I checked the header with "net tools" - "html", there is a response...
Please help me...

Your Send command on connect is incorrect. Should be:
GET /webgate/suterlaw.nsf/vwFiles/StatHTML/$FILE/index.html
HTTP/1.0\r\nAccept: */*\r\nUser-Agent: Ipswitch_Whatsup/4.0\r\n\r\n
You do not put the host part (www.suterlaw.ch) in the send string as
WhatsUp Gold gets the device info from the
map device. You create a Custom service as above and then assign it to a
map device.
