Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Monitoring System Variables Using SNMP (cont

Hi guys n girls

I have searched through old postings on this topic as well as looked on the
Ipswitch KB but still do not find the answers I need. I will tell you what I
have done and what I need. Before I start monitoring live servers I want to
see how the WUG threshold monitoring works so I am trying it on my local PC
first.

I have:

- installed the SNMP Service as well as the SNMP Trap Service under Computer
Management (Win2K)
- configured the Agent and Security(community name) settings
- downloaded various Win2K, Microsoft and Compaq MIBS and installed them
with mibextra in WUG as well as getif
- downloaded getif and tried to browse the Win2K/Compaq machine (which just
for this test happens to be the same machine) but only seem to see info for
the ethernet card, loopback address and some system info.
- tried a snmpwalk from the top level but do not see any vendor specific
info, there is no data for the CPU% (.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.2.1.3.0) or
similar queries ?

I have tried both the WUG MIB viewer as well as getif but still do not find
what I am looking for.
It seems possibly that I have to load the MIB on the Win2K somehow as well ?
Is this so, how ?

Does anyone monitor CPU%, HDD% and MEM% with WUG ? Can you assist please ?

thnx
Kevin
