I like to just monitor the interface closest to WhatsUp and rely on SNMP
traps from the router for other interfaces.

Don -

I hear ya not only have I not found a use for it - I also don't trust it's
reporting. I have
noticed on Nortel a sub interface is almost always reported as down (giving
you the pink octagon)
even when the interface is up and running. I have not seen this on any
cisco sub interfaces at
this time but we are just now migrating over as we get more cisco devices up
and going I will be
anxious to see if a I get any similar anomalies.

at this time I simply monitor every interface seperatly as it's own device
icon using icmp... I
group them with other interfaces from the same device but would love to be
able to monitor a
router and all it's interfaces in one icon...

any ideas?
