No Keith, you have not missed them. As we moved toward WhatsUp Gold 7.0 and
allowed a more integration of new vendor devices into the device type
library and host file, we addressed this concern. So far we are leaving it
open to device vendors to supply their customers with device icons -
actually .emf files - that can be put into WhatsUp Gold, and the customer
can then create an SCHECK (service check) in the device identification that
will promote the device to the type you want. You may want to read more
about this in "Customizing Device Types" in the WhatsUp Gold 7.0 Help
document. Also, if you don't want to wait for your vendor to supply device
icons, try our Vector Device Editor and create your own.

Eventually, and it is hoped, that in the future device vendors will see the
importance of features like this and supply their customers their own custom
built icons for network management applications.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Device Types

Are there any device type libraries other than what comes with the WUP
product out of the box? I am looking for router, switch and other network
equipment devices to put on maps.

I see no downloads on the IP Switch site, but may have missed them.

Thanks,

K. R. Fulton
