It seems that people are thinking that IPX ping does not work at all in WhatsUp Gold.
I have tested that it does work within WhatsUp Gold v7.0x, and it worked in earlier
versions when I tested them as they were released.

The address should be in the form:

        00000A0A.0030C18E3450

ie, 8 hex digits, a dot, and 12 hex digits.

If you want to set up a device on a map that uses IPX as the means of monitoring then
there is one caveat - you have to specify the correct IPX hostname in addition to the
IPX address. This should not be a problem to most users - they'll be more likely to
know the hostname before they know the IPX address!

Yes, this is a defect. It has been logged.

Does anyone monitor Netware 4.x/5.x using IPX ? I can't seem to get a good
IPX ping. I ping and ipxping the server from any remote server, and all is
fine. WhatsUp Gold can't seem to find it; the WUG box is running IPX/SPX as
well. Any ideas ?

Rick
