I haven't tried this, but I would think from the web interface that you could write a custom .asp file and have it run/include it from the StandardPageFooter.asp that would run though all device alerts looking for audio alerts on down systems. If it found an audio alert on a down system, it could play a sound. The sound file to play would have to be accessible from the web page.
Like I said I haven't tried it. It would take some time to program it and depending on how many devices you had it could take WUG a while to process the file each time a page was displayed. But if this is a feature you want it may be worth it to you. OR If you have rules on your email inbox that let you play a sound (I know Outlook can do it), you could set a rule that would play a sound each time an email came from WUG. This would take the load off of the WUG box of making the sounds. The only down side is, it doesn't work if your email server goes down. The other advantage of this is you don't need to have a browser window open to that page all of the time. Once the device is back in an UP or SVCUP state you should not hear the webdown.wav. You will still see the devices where an event took place, i.e. it went down and came back up. These devices have the highlighted display name and the Acknowledge button will be active in the web interface. Now if you do not wish to hear these Webdown alerts every time the browser refreshes (it uses browser refresh frequency instead of poll triggers), then you could minimize the browser window. Whenever you wish to view the window, restore it and when it refreshes it will show you the current status. Unfortunately, the toggle for this exists only as an "On/Off" switch in the web configuration panel. It's not really a device alarm notification, it's a web status change configuration. So at this point your looking at On or Off as your options. There is no variable threshold for the web sound as there is for the console. Nor are there any tools in the .asp pages to give you that capability. Maybe in rev 8 ? The once without alarms I need them just to be able to see their Status. On the Monitoring Server, the Sound Alarm triggers ONLY according to the settings I have done, and this is 100% ok. However from the Web interface, the alarm sounds even on the items for which I haven t set any alarms. Since we have a lot of items being monitored which are constantly changing their status, from the Web Interface the alarms keeps triggering regularly, and this becomes annoying, and effectively reducing the use of it. Currently my only option is to monitor only the once for which I want Alarms to be triggered, however again this reduces a lot WUP use for my case. Has one solved this issue?? It there a way to go round this problem??
