Chris,
Have you made sure your routing and remote access service is not active? If
it is set stop it and set it to manual activation.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] repeating failed WUG alerts to a pager

Hi, people. Sorry this is a bit lengthy.

I've got a real asskicker of a problem here. I don't think it has anything
to do with my WUG installation itself, but then again, I am really puzzled
at this point.

First off, I've got a W2K server, WUG 7.03 was installed when the problem
began surfacing about 10 days ago. I just upgraded to 8.0 this past
Monday.

Got many Lotus Notes servers being monitored. Compaq Insight Mgr also
monitoring these servers and set up to deliver SNMP traps to my WUG server.
The SNMP traps generate a PAGE to the Lotus Notes team pager. Note all of
the failed attempts that came from the CITLNADMINHUB server in the log
below. Already confirmed 100% that there's nothing wrong with the pager
alerting config in WUG. SNMP traps from other Notes servers generate
successful notifications to the pager. The ADMINHUB server's SNMP service
is configured properly; looked at that 100 times. "send authentication
traps" is disabled, and the community names are right. On the ADMINHUB
device in WUG, it was originally set to accept ANY traps. We believe we
tracked the problem of authentication failure traps to a Notes server over
in our London office. But the problem here in WUG is the repeated failed
attempts to send a page to the Notes pager. It's going over and over and
over for the past few days. I've had my pager company reset the pager in
order to flush out any queued pages that may be flooding it. I've even
taken the Notes pager out of the ADMINHUB alerts configuration. The WUG
server and external modem have been power cycled a few times, as well. My
question, I guess, will WUG re-attempt a failed notification x number of
times before it drops the attempt altogether? I don't know where the
problem is. Anybody???????? Thanks......
