Odd thing is, my local DNS server misses
too. It’s on same subnet, so I don’t think it is WAN congestions.

My 125+ DNS servers never
miss (I know, wasn't my choice for so many). Most of my links are DS3 and T1 to
the offices. My guess would also be WAN congestion as a place to start.

I can say that I also get a lot of the same with the 9+
DNS servers I monitor. I only log when I miss 1 but alarm on anything
more than that. I don't think that I am having DNS problems, they are new
DNS servers running Lucent QIP on dual processor compaq DL380, they are just
not that heavily loaded.
I
also thought that since the servers were remote from the network management
station that it could be related to WAN congestion as well.....

We have a few DNS servers throughout our global network that
I am monitoring from Atlanta. I keep having issues with DNS timing out and
sending out false positives. I am monitoring the point of entry and I can
actually do DNS queries from the servers when WUG thinks it is down. Anyone
have any idea's? Thanks!
