I wouldn’t mind so much if my blips where only once, but sometimes they last for a few polls and cause alerts to be sent out. I have them on my POP3 and SMTP servers also. I do not like having to set the threshold so high that the there could be outages for 20 minutes and no alerts are being sent.

I get the same results – except on POP3 and SMTP gateways; but sporadically and only on some [never a correlation between OS or Application – it varies].
Some days I’ll get 50-75 false positives on POP3 or SMTP servers, or I can go for several weeks without a blip.

>We have a few DNS servers throughout our global network that I am monitoring from Atlanta. I keep having issues with DNS timing out and sending out false positives. I am monitoring the point of entry and I can actually do DNS queries from the servers when WUG thinks it is down. Anyone have any idea’s? Thanks!
I may be having similar issues. One of my boxes repeatedly fails to locate two servers in another building (which it needs DNS to find). Several other boxes can see them fine. Is WUG doing anything strange with DNS or traceroute?
