Circuit to the panel and what servers, etc are connect to it, I got it. Warranty dates, I got it. Program managers, contacts, support desk for said programs, I got it. Which switch is tied to the main switch, and what device is on what port and on and on and on and on. I really wish Ipswitch would look into an asset management database and linking it into WUG. Just a basic starter database package for those who can not do it for themselves. After all the information in every map is great but you really need the above information at your finger tips daily to do your job. I on the other hand have been mulling over this for about three years and most likely will migrate this onto my Cluster in SQL since that is how I run WUG. Of course there will be a lot of rework to make it look and feel better. Yes I even have images.... the mdb is linked to Visio or should I say Visio is linked to the mdb. I wish I could make more of it dynamic. It is very much worth the effort. Oh!, did I mention you can click on a server and bingo, a detailed load doc right to the printer... Want to know where the analog lines are on a given floor, I got it. Fax machines, network printers, I got it. Need it in Visio, I got it.. :>> Tv -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Jeff Cook Sent: Wednesday, March 19, 2003 7:56 PM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] Looking for link idea So what kind of data do you have in this other database? I've already got it secured under IS_MAP_CONFIGURE_MAP so I am happy now. -Not to mention switches, routers, etc, etc, etc.... Thanks Tv --- always dinking.... -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Jeff Cook Sent: Wednesday, March 19, 2003 4:34 PM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] Looking for link idea The only way to do that is to take it out of the info field and edit your devicedetails.asp file. You can't put WUG variables in a WUG field and have them be resolved. If you edit you wug asp file you can have it display a link such as... <a href="http://DBServer/QueryPage.asp?device=<%DEVICE% HOSTNAME>">Your External Database</a> You could edit the device= to be what ever you wanted to use as your id. It could be the IP or the device name. You will have to learn a little about the WUG asp tags. The said link is to an ASP page that links to an Access MDB (could be SQL). Info in that MDB is everything and anything about equipment in my data center. What it gives me is just the information on the device I am on. (STATIC per device). What I am looking for is a way to pass the WUG Device (hostname) info into the HTML so I can write one generic HTML link for all items. (maybe I am looking at a script to be in the Info 1: field who knows. Any ideas?? Thanks Tony Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
