Hi!

I was at the same situation years ago. I just edited the hosttype.ini file
and inserted a WCMD which points to my .asp page for the SQL-Query.

Looks like this...

[ET Switch 3Com SS3300]
BMPNAME=C:\Program Files\Whatsup\icons\3300.emf
SCOUNT=0
OBJID=1.3.6.1.4.1.43.10.27.4.1.2.2
TYPE=0
OVERLAYTEXT=3Com
DeviceCategory=Custom Devices - General
WCOUNT=3
WNAME1=Detail
WCMD1=http://whatsup.bmi.intra.gv.at/lan/ipsrvdetail.asp?name=%n
WNAME2=<img src=24port.gif border=0>
WCMD2=http://monitor:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
MCOUNT=0
NumberOfEvents=0

The only way to do that is to take it out of the info field and edit your
devicedetails.asp file. You can't put WUG variables in a WUG field and have
them be resolved. If you edit you wug asp file you can have it display a
link such as...

<a href="http://DBServer/QueryPage.asp?device=<%DEVICE% HOSTNAME>">Your
External Database</a>

You could edit the device= to be what ever you wanted to use as your id. It
could be the IP or the device name. You will have to learn a little about
the WUG asp tags.

I have an HTML link that I place in the info 1: field. The said link is to
an ASP page that links to an Access MDB (could be SQL). Info in that MDB is
everything and anything about equipment in my data center. What it gives me
is just the information on the device I am on. (STATIC per device). What I
am looking for is a way to pass the WUG Device (hostname) info into the HTML
so I can write one generic HTML link for all items. (maybe I am looking at a
script to be in the Info 1: field who knows.

Any ideas??

Thanks
Tony
