Hi!   it's not possible to make a stupid question if you are working with computers, i know :)   I think you can just define a notification (SMTP-Mail, Popup, etc.) to a device and not just to a service, my mistake. So you will be notified for every service going down (also ICMP, etc.). It is possible to set triggers so you will be notified if the the service missed ie. 5 polls. You have to specify the OID you want to monitor and the values. Ie., if the temperature of our Coreswitches goes above 35 degrees celsius the service will go down.
