not possible to make a stupid question if you are working with computers, i know

I
think you can just define a notification (SMTP-Mail, Popup, etc.) to a device
and not just to a service, my mistake. So you will be notified for
every service going down (also ICMP, etc.). It is possible to set
triggers so you will be notified if the the service missed ie. 5
polls.
If you
are just monitoring one service on a device you can switch to Polling
Method "Services only" in the general tab of a device and you will get notified
just on this single service.
