I see that you are using WhatsUp Gold v8.0 and that means that you already have a fix to what we called the "chunking" problem.
ie: Expect=<html>.*</html> If <html> is found in the 1st chunk of data received and </html> is not found in the 1st chunk but in a subsequent chunk then the check should pass OK - but was not until v8.0. So.. a couple of questions to help clarify things: 1) How big are the pages being monitored? 2) Are the pages dynamic? 3) Is the string being looked for an exact string or based on an expression? We get about a dozen or so single poll misses every day. We're monitoring for a string near the end of the pages to make sure we can at least load them that far. Server is a dual 2G CPU, 2B memory, running Gig Ethernet and both ends have a 10Mb pipe to the Internet. No other problems with whatsup...runs very clean managing about 350 devices and interfaces including 27 regional offices over frame-relay. Using ping instead of content scan results in no failures.
