You don't understand what I described, and I'm not monitoring the same thing
multiple times. I turn off polling of the device on the event log monitor
object. I may have 2 objects, but I'm only polling once for ICMP response,
once for service up/down and once for the event log. You don't have to
monitor a device for ICMP response to monitor the event log. Try it and
you'll see what I mean.

The problem with your work around is that you are monitoring the same device
multiple times. It would be nice if items were an object in a database,
versus
unique objects on a map. Then you could display the same device in multiple
maps and only monitor the object one time.

This would allow you to lay out a logical diagram of your network, but then
create separate maps for Business Applications and interacting systems.

I'd love to do something similar. I'd like to have missed poll and service
down alerts use one notification and event log alerts use another
notification. The notification variable set for event log alerts is useless
for regular alerts and vice versa. I don't think either of our scenarios is
possible without creating separate monitors. For example, I have one icon
for server1 that includes network up/down. I have another icon for server1
that monitors the event log, but does not monitor network up/down (uncheck
monitor this device).

Wish: Make notifications a property of the monitored service, not the
device itself. An option for using the same notification for all monitors
on the same device would be useful with this feature. Ipswitch, you
listening? :-)

I have most of my devices set to monitor several services. Is there a way to
assign a different alert trigger to each service on the same device?
