I am having a lot of problems with my Win 2K Adv Server responding to
SNMP quickly.
Sometimes the query for free disk space comes back null and then if I
leave it alone for a bit it comes back with the correct number (it has
never come back with the wrong number).
I did a restart of the SNMP service only and it seems to have somewhat
stabilized now.
ldiskPercentFreeSpace.2.68.58=41
ldiskPercentFreeSpace.2.68.58=NULL
First it reported 41% free space and then it does not respond???
I installed SNMP4W2K-STD on the Win2K Adv server and now I am getting a
lot of these error messages in the Application Event Log

The Collect Procedure for the "PerfOS" service in DLL

These errors are coming fast and furious every 4 seconds or so. I tried
to unregister the DLL (which is where it says it should be) and get the
error:
Perfos.dll was loaded, but the DllUnregisterServer entry point was not
found.
And when I register it:
Perfos.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not
found.
Something is broken on the server....

I think I figured it out.
I did check the OID with Net Tools | SNMP and it was returning the
correct value but it was taking a long time to do it. Once I found and
increased the SNMP timeout from 5 to 10 seconds it now reports properly.
I do not understand why the server responds so slowly.

First use a MIB browser to check if the value is reporting anything on
the
"Down" server.
I also would check the instance and value on the second server. You may
find
that it has a different instance altogether. If a server has only a C:
drive, the instance will likely be different than one with a c: and a d:
drive.
When it comes to NT drive monitoring. You can never assume that a
service
that works on one server will work on another. Usually servicesa have to
be
created on a per server basis.

Hi,
I have setup WUG to monitor two of my server's C: drives to tell me if
they are more than 80% full. I read the documents and found the OIDs to
use and one server work fine and the other server doesn't work properly.
I created a monitored SNMP service with OID
1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.5.1.3.2.67.58 I gave it a range of values from
20 (low) to 100 (high). Then I assigned this service to two servers. One
server has 26% free space and the other has 67% free space (from Net
Tools below)
ldiskPercentFreeSpace.2.67.58=26
ldiskPercentFreeSpace.2.67.58=67
The 26% server show service down in the map and the 67% server show
service up on the map.
Why? Did I do something wrong? Don't think so. It is the same service
being monitored.
The thing that I noticed as a difference is that the 67% comes back
almost instantly while the 26% takes a good 5 seconds. Now the 67% is
the WUG server that this is being run on while the 26% is another server
on the local subnet. I have implemented SNMP4W2K-STD on both of these
servers. The 26% is a Win2K Adv Server SP3 and the 67% is a Win2K Server
SP4
Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be the issue here?
