Well, we kept the old maps just in case, but we're running from the XML maps. I'm halfway through writing some VB.NET code to bulk-chunk our maps, which will be able to do things you can't do with straight search & replace - change all alerts for devices in a particular subnet, for example. Should be fun if it all works.

Okay without fully understanding what is happening here, I feel instead of moving over to XML maps totally, keep your old wug maps and when ever something has to be done, automate the task of saving a clone of the map in XML format in a different directory (name it XML under the map directory or something) at that instance.  Change what needs to changed or extract what needs to be extracted on the XML version then replace the old map with the content of the XML map saved in the old format in the Map directory.  Then, delete the XML map in that clone directory \map\xml.  I have not automated this process, but I do it manually whenever I need to make bulk changes by doing a text search and replace on the XML version.
