If you have Compaq/HP Insight manager installed, the easiest thing to do is look at the MIB OID called CompaqOverallRAIDStatus, OID is 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.1.3.0 and it should be a value of 2.  If it is not, the array hardware is comprimised in some fashion.  This OID is a rollup of all of the RAID stats.  We usually monitor this and then go into the box via Insight manager for deeper investigation.

If you really want to know what's going on, search throught the MIB (Read it) and you'll understand.

p.s.  you can do this with Dell OpenManage also.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] How to Monitor Physical Drive Failure Status in WUG?

Hi,

I want to proactively monitor Physical Drive Failure Status in all my Compaq servers and A notification should be generated from WUG if there is any Phy.Drive failures in servers.

I am planning to add event from "Event Library->SNMP Trap->cpqCrPhyDiskFailureTrap" to all compaq servers.
Will this notify me if there is any failure / status change in the Physical disk drives?

I found the following entry in One of my compaq server's System Event log. But, I can not see all server's Event logs all the time. So, I want this to be notified by WUG.
Could some one help me out from this problem? Pls revert back if any other details are required

Thanks,

Kumar.
