If they are not very smart users you could implant a REG key onto their machines that plug in a non-existent proxy server. When they try to access the web it will look for that proxy server until it times out. If they don’t know what hit them then they won’t know what to look for.

I was asked if we had the ability to block a small amount of users from accessing the internet while retaining web access to our internal web apps in our local lan.
We run a 70+ campus network that is entirely switched except for a single router. Though we have evaluated some enterprise class products like Websense that would handle this with ease, I have never looked at a small solution just for a couple users in one department.
Do any of you have any recommendations of products or configurations you would share with me?
