All comments/whatever/etc aside, I think some of your users are a little out of control. Being passionate/supportive of a framework is one thing, but the image of "wicket" that is perceived through these kinds of actions is probably not what the developers/users of the framework would generally like to have stick in peoples minds.
There's just a sort of "moral code" to follow here is all. Esp. for a project in apache incubation. More people are watching you than you might think.
