> What's the plan for this bug?

I wonder why you are asking this question. There is no "plan". For the average
Bugzilla report it's often like "ignore it long enough to make the users give
up and stop complaining about, then pretend there is no problem". It doesn't
even matter if a report is almost 10 years old and received 50 votes (e.g. bug
674). There is no developer assigned and there are no developers to assign. WMF
always moves them to the next project in the moment a feature is deployed.
Sometimes the original developers even left WMF. If you are lucky a volunteer
will make a pull request.

I really, really don't understand why such bad changes aren't reverted (which
would be simple), fixed (which may be hard) and deployed again (which is again
simple). It's like WMF is more afraid of reverting something than being
criticized for making bad changes. Why is that?

I'm sorry, Andre, I'm just trying to explain what many users actually think.
Reports like this are just tips of the iceberg.

What about excluding the Wikidata link from using the font? What about
excluding all Latin languages from using a font they don't need? What about
delivering the font only to browsers that would show rectangles otherwise?
