Erik Moeller <e...@wikimedia.org> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|REOPENED |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |WONTFIX --- Comment #10 from Erik Moeller <e...@wikimedia.org> --- (In reply to comment #8) > I suppose my comment was ambiguous. Do you think UniversalLanguageSelector > (ULS) is currently in good enough shape, with acceptable performance for > Wikimedia wikis? I do think it's fine to keep ULS deployed and to iteratively improve it, so closing as WONTFIX (if new information surfaces that justifies at least a discussion about that option, feel free to reopen). I have requested that we continue to assess ways to reduce the footprint of the autonym font - it's small but it's loaded in some situations where it may not need to be (e.g. only Latin characters). Longer term, we should get more data to further optimize when we deliver fonts for content, as they're a huge payload with sometimes dubious benefit, but again, I don't think those issues are severe of frequent enough to warrant scaling back deployment. There may be more severe issues experienced in communities of specific languages where fonts are delivered by default, but those should be tracked separately. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
