Are you looking at a different Wikipedia then I am? We're talking about
interlanguage links in the sidebar right? I can't seem to see it. (also I
grepped for xml:lang in trunk, its not used in the html output anywhere as far
as I can tell.

I could see the lang attribute potentially useful to screen readers needing to
switch rules when pronouncing (It'd be nice if someone with an actual screen
reader could confirm that), but hreflang seems really useless, unless someone
can actually name an actual existing application that does something with it.
