One problem with BabelNet is that its licence is restrictive, being the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (CC BY-NC-SA 3.0) license. Downloading BabelNet is even more restrictive, requiring also working at a research institution.
Yago http://www.mpi-inf.mpg.de/departments/databases-and-information-systems/research/yago-naga/yago/ , which has the less restrictive license Attribution 3.0 Unported (CC BY 3.0), has links between Wikipedia categories and Wordnet. Unfortunately, it does not carry these links through to regular Wikipedia pages. I've been toying with making this last connection, which would be easy for those categories that a linked to Wikipedia page. Peter F.
