Phil, I /can/ tell you that you need to close off the table you start for your links to the other language user pages. I'm not sure why that would have the effect you're describing, but it would definitely cause issues.
As far as the flag not showing up, on the Spanish page, you use [[Image:...]] instead of [[Imagen:...]], and it's the same on the Portuguese page. It works for me, but try changing it to the localised namespace and see what happens? I'm also wondering if something is causing issues with being able to view SVG files. It's a fairly new standard, and however wonderful they are, I don't think IE supports it very well. I don't keep up with that sort of thing, so I couldn't say for sure. What browser are you using?
