Randy, I think you miss understood my point. I agree one hundred percent with 
the fact that a one-step solution is better than two steps. What I meant was IF 
you are going to do it in two steps it would be better to export the Google 
Docs file as ODT instead of MS Word. Because when you open MS Word in 
OpenOffice it is actually doing a hidden third step, a conversion from MS Word 
to ODT.

Hi John,

Thanks - I am aware of this.

As I have been converting docs for the Community Media space, I have found that 
my old Pentium III computer cannot handle medium-size doc exports into 
Mediawiki from Open Office....my Core2Duo laptop handles it no problem.

Trouble is, many folks (particularly in the developing world) may not have 
access to this type of computing power. So, a 'one-step' would be preferable to 
the 'two-step', in my view.
