Hi all!

Here's the news from the style guide
<http://wikieducator.org/WikiEducator:Style_guide> front:

Guideline approvals are still on hold whilst we wait for the community
council to briefly reconvene on our behalf. They will be looking to
approve our draft policy
<http://wikieducator.org/Workgroup:style_guidelines/Guideline_policy_proposal>,
which describes how official WE guidelines are drafted, approved, and
implemented.

It has been suggested
<http://wikieducator.org/Talk:Workgroup:style_guidelines#lqt_thread_11665>
that we define the scope of the guidelines in regard to other
localisations. Does anyone have suggestions for where we would mention
it in the charter and how it should be worded?

There is one new guideline, and two moved guidelines. Nellie Deutsch
suggested a spelling guideline
<http://wikieducator.org/WikiEducator:Style_guide/Proposed_guidelines/Spelling>
where we are attempting to determine how dialect is appropriately used.
Also, the suggestions formerly known as "Uniform language use" and "All
pages categorised" have been moved to "Language use
<http://wikieducator.org/WikiEducator:Style_guide/Proposed_guidelines/Language_use>"

and "Page categorisation
<http://wikieducator.org/WikiEducator:Style_guide/Proposed_guidelines/Page_categorisation>",

respectively, so as not to infer any single opinion or bias.

We have some lively discussions going on at these pages:

    * Some very important questions were brought up at the Language use
      suggestion

<http://wikieducator.org/WikiEducator:Style_guide/Proposed_guidelines/Language_use>:
o When would a page need to be in two or more languages?
o How does one go about requesting a localised version of WE?
o Is a quantity of language-based content required to warrant
localisation, and if so, how much?
o If a quantity is required, how should an author prepare for
localisation, and where should he or she store content?
o How can we help a reader or member understand what language
            a page is in?
o and some concerns were raised about how our guidelines
            affect other localisations.
    * At the page categorisation suggestion

we are discussing how categorising every page might affect the
readability and usability of categories, and how we might combat
that, if it is determined to be an issue.

Please follow the links and share your ideas. I pre-emptively thank you
for telling us what you think!

Seeing you around,
