Hi Kirby, Absolutely! I Agree -- I think the open web is the Global U -- it will continue to grow, innovate and flourish as a non-institutional phenomenon and should be preserved and protected imho.
The concept of the "OER University" is not a replacement for the "Global U" -- just a node of formal institutions in the ecosystem who want to collaborate and provide formal credit for "informal OER" learning. The "OER University" will gift all its learning resources back to the global community as free content for the continued support and growth of the Global U.
