Hi Anil,

Apology for the tardy response :-(. Been running a little low on bandwidth
these past two weeks -- not complaining, being busy means you are still
wanted (but not necessarily needed) ;-)

At the end of every year, I think it's worthwhile exercise to think about
priority projects. Anil, I agree that we should plan for increasing our
online offering of free courses. Specifically, the OER Foundation is
planning to extend and widen its community outreach and free training
activities:

   - Early in the new year we will launch the "Open Content Licensing for
Educators" course. We will model this on the ground breaking
Learning4Content initiative aiming to become the world's largest free
training programming in assisting educators with the complexities of
copyright. With funding support from UNESCO and collaboration among the
OpenCourseWare Consortium, Creative Commoners and WikiEducators -- I'm sure
this will be a great success! The draft of one unit called "Creative
   Commons
unplugged<http://wikieducator.org/Creative_Commons_unplugged/Introduction>has
now been completed for review. This is one of five
   units<http://wikieducator.org/Open_Content_Licensing/Outline_for_materials>
planned for the eventual course. I'll be working over the holidays drafting
the remaining units. All help is well received and folk can visit the
planning schedule to monitor progress and help with the project:
   http://wikieducator.org/Open_Content_Licensing/Project_plan
   - In 2011, the OER Foundation will focus energies on mainstream adoption
of OER in our education institutions around the world. We are hosting a
strategic planning meeting in Dunedin on 23 February 2011 for a quantum
shift project called the "OER for assessment and credit for students
   project<http://wikieducator.org/OER_for_Assessment_and_Credit_for_Students>".
I firmly believe that learning and learning materials should be free for all
students around the world. This project aims to develop OER mapped to
university and polytechnic credentials. Students will be free to learn from
these courses with the option of assessment and credit for reduced fees.
The OER Foundation is partnering with the University of Southern Queensland
in Australia (building on Professor Jim Taylor's inspirational work around
the concept), Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand and Athabasca University in
Canada as anchor partners for the project. All universities, colleges and
polytechnics of the world are free to join
us<http://wikieducator.org/OER_for_Assessment_and_Credit_for_Students/Meetings>in
this exciting venture. I'm hoping to get sponsorship to cover the
costs
of streaming this planning meeting for the world. So if you know of donors
interesting in supporting free education for the world -- invite them to
   donate here: http://wikieducator.org/OERF:Donate

I predict that 2011 will be an amazing year for OER!

I invite all WikiEducators to share their 2011 resolutions for making OER
futures happen.

Best wishes to all WikiEducators and their loved ones for the holidays.

Cheers
Wayne
