I was running into the same challenge when transferring the Basic Guide for OER book to WikiEducator, so ended up just superscriping the reference and noting them in a footnote

While using templates on a page we seem to be able to edit using only the EDIT button top of page - would like to break pages into smaller pieces so that they can be edited ( we normally do this through titling sections!!) - how can this be done?
